Citibank is an important international bank. It was founded in the year 1812. The bank is now considered as the consumer and corporate banking arm of the financial services. It is considered as the largest company in its field in world. In terms of its holdings it is the largest bank in United States. The Citibank was founded in the year 1812 by group of New York merchants. It was the Citibank which became the first the first U.S. national bank to open an overseas banking office. Because of its merger with the First National Bank, bank changed its name as The First National City Bank of New York in the year 1955. It again took another name in 1962 and ultimately changed into Citibank in the year 1976.

We are living in a world where money is essential at every walk of life. In today’s highly developed technological world money is required while touring, shopping and other times. The banks issue credit cards which is a system of highly convenient payment system. It is convenient as other than a small plastic card for the transaction nothing else is required. In the present banking scenario almost all modern banks offer credit card facility which is very different from debit cards. The credit cards can be used while shopping, touring or other times but this use is only possible when the card is accepted up to a pre established credit limit.

During the 1960s the Citibank entered into the business of credit card though after three years the bank tends to shut this division and by 1968 the bank offered its own credit card. Again in the year 1977-1987 Citibank tried to create a separate credit card brand named, the choice card.
